Do you have to be a licensed locksmith to go to a customer's home or business?

[Yes. The Texas Private Security Bureau requires all locksmiths, or others in the security business, to obtain a security license to do any type of work at your home or business.  Hiring an unlicensed locksmith can result in a $4,000 fine for the locksmith company that came out, and/ the locksmith can go to jail; and the customer whom knowingly hires an unlicensed individual or company can also get fined.]

Do all locksmiths charge the same price for services?

[This is an excellent question.  We are professional locksmiths with years of experience under our belt and most importantly are licensed and insured.  I would question a locksmiths low prices, chances are if their prices are extremely low they have little experience in the industry, are unlicensed locksmiths and are willing to take what they can get.  Remember the old adage "you get what you pay for"  ]

If we need to get our locks changed or rekeyed, how do I know how many cylinders we have?

[You can count your cylinders by looking to see and count every keyhole (or cylinder) whether it is on the inside of the door or the outside of the door. Every place you can insert a key is a cylinder.  Cylinders (or keyholes) on the inside and outside of the door of a double sided deadbolt count as two cylinders. If you have a knob lock and one deadbolt on the same door, there are three cylinders on that door.]

When is the best time to rekey our home or business?

[The best time to have a home rekeyed is when you first move in or when  new construction is done. You do not want contractors or old residents or neighbors to the old resident to have any extra keys. ]
